In this knowledge-based economy, corporations invest millions of dollars in training and expect a return on that investment. E-learning strategies and instructional methods being employed exclude the use of asynchronous discussion as a viable instructional method. A study by Rosette (2011) showed e-learning programs rarely include expectations that employees are to participate in online discussion.
Participants will be able to:
• Use web-based tools to design and deliver asynchronous discussions as an instructional strategy for training.
• Explore factors that might prevent a company from employing these tools.
• Identify interactions to make this instructional strategy successful.
Implement a new paradigm in collaborative learning and performance utilizing nontraditional instructional strategies and methods using a Web 2.0 platform.
